Community Day a success!

Hello Neighbors,
I am glad to say we had yet another excellent turnout for our HCA community day. With ten homes participating in the yard sales and a coffee stop at Elwood, there was quite a bit of neighborhood activity this morning.
This was then followed by a very productive exchange with the council and mayoral candidates. We had all but one candidate in attendance and 40-50 attendees. Each of the candidates was asked to speak for 3 minutes about themselves and their plans as well as addressing the top 3 survey results on areas of interest to the community (schools, economic development, and neighborhood safety). We then allowed for a couple direct questions from the neighborhood to the mayoral candidates prior to breaking so people could socialize and snack with candidates in a more informal setting.
With so many passionate candidates, we are quite lucky to have a variety of good choices. I would encourage you all to vote and read up in the recent Rockville newsletter to understand their agendas.
Lastly, a big thanks to Lok Samson and Mary Belknap who lead this event, as well as others who volunteered to help. Events like this aren't possible without the efforts of people in the neighborhood.
Best Regards,
Jeff Perkins
HCA President

Candidates will be asked to introduce themselves briefly and participate in a community question session. Informal social afterwards.

A craft table will be available to keep kids occupied during the forum.
