Memorial Day Neighborhood Parade & Picnic

Monday, May 28 * 4-7pm * Elwood Smith Park, 601 Harrington Road

Veterans, neighbors, families, kids, pets, and scouts - decorate your bikes, strollers or pets in red, white and blue! Meet at Elwood Smith Park for a neighborhood parade to honor our veterans, followed by a picnic. Veterans are invited to lead the parade.

Parade Details:
● Parade lineup begins at 4:00 pm in the Elwood Smith Community Center Parking Lot. The parade begins at 4:15 p.m.
● The parade takes place on the sidewalks and paths. Please do not use the road!
● We welcome fire trucks and other service vehicles to park at Elwood Smith Park for the event. **Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate motorized vehicles for the parade itself.
● Parking is very limited - arrive before 3:45 pm, especially those who need assistance. We will close part of Elwood Smith parking lot for the event for safety reasons.
● We hope to see you either participating in the parade or supporting participants along the parade route!

Join us for a community picnic beginning right after the parade (approximately 4:30pm). Bring a chair or blanket & some bug spray and listen to Hungerford’s own Bowie Road Benders perform!

Picnic Details:
● Burgers and hot dogs will be provided by the Hungerford Civic Association.
● Bring a side-dish, appetizer or dessert to share and a picnic blanket.
● Volunteers also needed for set-up/clean up and to bring supplies.
● Please go to Sign-Up genius to see what is needed.
